New York, March 15, 2007 -- New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that forward Ryan Callahan has been recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL) on an emergency basis.

Callahan, 21, has skated in two games with the Rangers and 60 games with Hartford (AHL) this season. In 60 games with the Wolf Pack, he has registered 35 goals and 20 assists for 55 points, along with a plus-seven rating and 74 penalty minutes. In his first professional season, the 5-11, 185-pound forward leads the Wolf Pack in goals (35), power play goals (15), shorthanded goals (four) and points (55). With 35 goals, Callahan has tied Nigel Dawes' franchise record for goals in a season by a rookie. From today's practice, everyone on the Rangers active roster participated. Brendan Shanahan skated with the team, but remains out indefinitely due to a concussion suffered on February 17 vs. Philadelphia. Kevin Weekes participated in practice, but remains out day-to-day with a strained quadricep muscle that was suffered on February 13. Marcel Hossa, Karel Rachunek and Fedor Tyutin also remain sidelined. Hossa will be out three more weeks due to a left MCL sprain suffered on March 5 vs. the New York Islanders. Rachunek suffered an MCL sprain on March 13 vs. Ottawa and will be out three to four weeks. Tyutin sustained a left MCL sprain on March 1 vs. Pittsburgh and will be sidelined two more weeks with the injury. The Blueshirts return to action tomorrow, March 16, when they will face off against the Atlanta Thrashers at Philips Arena (7:30 PM, FSN NY). Prior to the game, the team's morning skate is scheduled for 11:30 AM at Philips Arena.
