New York Power Add Heather Beem

New York, NY - The New York Power announced today they have named Heather Beem as the team's developmental player. Beem, a 5-6 midfielder/forward from Clemson University was the fourth round draft pick of the Power in the 2003 WUSA Draft and 25th selection overall. A native of Vancouver, WA, Beem returns to the Power after completing her college requirements at Clemson University.

Beem finished her career ranked eighth in career points (79), tied for sixth in career goals (28) and tied for fifth in career assists (23) at Clemson, was named NSCAA third-team all-South Region in 2002 and First-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference Selection in 2002. She appeared for 10 games with the Memphis Mercury of the W-League, collecting 2 assists.

With the addition of Beem, goalkeeper Meghan Frey has been released by the Power. Frey, who joined the team as a tryout player for the 2003 season, did not appear in a game for the Power.

The New York Power is one of eight professional women's soccer teams that make up the Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA), the world's premier women's soccer league. 2003 New York Power tickets are priced at $25, $20, $17 and the addition of a $10 ticket for the 2003 season.
