GAME #15: June 30 - Silver Stars 91, Liberty 78: The Liberty shot out of the gates in the first quarter, starting the game against the Silver Stars with a 15-4 run and amassing an 11-point lead half-way through the period ... San Antonio fought back and took the lead on a Sophia Young jumper with a minute to go in the first quarter, and the Silver Stars would non relinquish the lead for the remainder of the game ... San Antonio built its lead, heading into half time with a 39-27 lead ... The Liberty proved to be no match for the Silver Stars in the second half, as the team saw its lead grow to as many as 21 points by the end of the third quarter ... New York would only get to within 13, losing to the Silver Stars by a final of 91-78 ... Shameka Christon led all scorers with a career-high 23 points ... Former Liberty player Vickie Johnson led the Silver Stars with 19 points.
GAME #14: June 27 - Sting 73, Liberty 67: In the first meeting between New York and Charlotte this season, the Sting came out ready to play and quickly took the lead holding the Liberty to only eight points in the first quarter...The Sting continued to put pressure on the Liberty throughout the rest of the first half increasing their lead to 15 and entering the half with a 31-16 lead over New York...The Liberty came out in the second half with a new energy looking to cut the deficit...New York scored 34 points in the 3rd quarter, outscoring the Sting 34-20 and bringing the gap to within one...Led by the scoring of Catherine Kraayeveld, the Liberty were able to play a competitive second half and with 1:30 left in the game the score was tied...A lay-up by Tangela Smith followed by a pair of free throws from Tammy Sutton-Brown put the Sting up by three with 25.6 left...The Liberty had a chance to tie the game but was unable to convert and was forced to foul the Sting, who were able to add a few more points on the board to secure the lead...Charlotte took the win, 73-67...The leading scorer for the Liberty was Kraayeveld with a career-high 18 points...High scorer for the Sting was Sheri Sam with a game-high 19 points.

New York vs. Sacramento
New York will play host to the Sacramento Monarchs tonight at Madison Square Garden ... It is the first of two match-ups between the teams this season ... The game will be broadcast live on MSG Network ... The Liberty is currently 4-11 and in fifth place in the Eastern Conference ... The Monarchs stand at 9-8 and in fourth place in the Western Conference.

TEAM NOTES
HOME ON THE RANGE: The Liberty is in the midst of its longest home stand of the season ... Beginning with the July 27 game against Charlotte, and ending with tonight's game against Sacramento, New York is playing three straight games at The Garden ... The team will also end the regular season with a three-game stand at home ... So far on this home stay, the Liberty lost to the Sting, followed by a loss to San Antonio on Friday ... The team hopes to salvage the home stand with a win over the Monarchs tonight.
SEEING (ALL)STARS: Becky Hammon has once again been recognized as being among the WNBA's elite ... The eighth-year Liberty guard was just named as a starter for the 2006 WNBA All-Star Game, to be held at Madison Square Garden on July 12 ... The league made the official announcement of the Game's starters, which are voted on by fans across the country, yesterday ... This is Hammon's second straight year being an All-Star starter .... She was also voted in as a reserve by WNBA coaches in 2003, but was unable to play due to an injury ... As a starter in the 2005 All- Star Game, Hammon rattled off 18 points, six rebounds and four assists in 21 minutes.
