
New Preseason Competition Announced

Austin, TX - Austin FC, FC Dallas, the Houston Dynamo FC, and San Antonio FC will participate in the inaugural edition of "La Copita", a newly formed preseason tournament that will kick off ahead of the Major League Soccer (MLS) and United Soccer League (USL) 2021 seasons. La Copita will see Austin FC compete in a total of three (3) preseason matches including matchups against the Houston Dynamo FC at home on Saturday, April 3 at 3:00pm CST; away at FC Dallas on Wednesday, April 7 at 4:00pm CST; and at home against San Antonio FC on Saturday, April 10 at 4:00pm CST. Austin FC's home matches will be played at St. David's Performance Center, the Club's $45 million, privately financed, state-of-the-art training facility in Northeast Austin. Austin FC will broadcast the matches against the Houston Dynamo FC and FC Dallas via livestream on the Austin FC app, which will soon be made available for download via the iTunes App Store and Google Play.
"I'm glad we have been able to organize La Copita, and we're hopeful it becomes an important part of Austin FC's preparations each season for years to come," added Claudio Reyna, Austin FC Sporting Director.
"Participation in La Copita is an important part of our preseason preparations," commented Josh Wolff, Austin FC Head Coach. "We're taking on our two soon-to-be MLS rivals and a strong USL side in San Antonio FC, giving our squad three opportunities to progress match fitness and technical preparation ahead of our first regular season match against LAFC on April 17th."
In addition to FC Dallas, the Houston Dynamo and San Antonio FC, OKC Energy FC will also take part in one La Copita match, away to the Houston Dynamo on April 6th.
Austin FC's home matches at St. David's Performance Center will be closed to the public and media due to COVID-19 restrictions. Austin FC fans will be able to tune into the Austin FC match against the Houston Dynamo FC and the match against FC Dallas via a livestream broadcast on the Austin FC app. Full details of how to tune in will be available via AustinFC.com and Austin FC's social media channels @AustinFC on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
