
Francisco Calvo Called up to Costa Rica National Team for Two Upcoming Friendlies

CHICAGO - Chicago Fire FC today announced that captain Francisco Calvo has been called up to represent the Costa Rica National Team for two upcoming friendly matches at the end of March. Calvo will join Costa Rica on Sunday, March 21.
Calvo will travel to Europe to face Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday, March 27 at 12:00 p.m. CT at Bilino Polje Stadium in Sarajevo. Los Ticos will then travel to Austria, where they will face Mexico on Tuesday, March 30 at 3:00 p.m. CT at the Wiener Neustadt Stadium in Vienna. Calvo will return to the U.S. on Wednesday, March 31 and will adhere to a league-mandated five-day quarantine.
The Fire defender joins the Costa Rica National Team for the first time in 2021 after playing 90 minutes in each of the team's last two matches of 2020, a 1-1 tie against Qatar on Nov. 13 and a 2-1 loss to Euskadi (Basque Country) on Nov. 16. Costa Rica is preparing for the Concacaf Nations League final four, scheduled for the FIFA window in the first week of June, with the venues and times still to be determined.
