Another offensive minded game led to a 12-9 victory for the New Orleans Zephyrs over the Sidewinders. Winning pitcher Carlos Hernandez (4-0) pitched 5 innings allowing 3 runs, all earned on 4 hits. RHP Edgar Gonzalez lasted 6 innings but, allowed 7 runs, all earned to pick up his 5th loss on the season. He is now 1-5.
For New Orleans, leadoff man SS Eric Bruntlett had 4 hits on the night and also drove in 4 as he finished 4-6, with a run and a 2B. LF Phil Hiatt and 3B Mike Coolbaugh both homered for New Orleans as the Zephyrs pounded out 19 hits against the Sidewinders' pitchers.
For Tucson, 3B/LF Tim Olson had the most productive night as he went 3-3, with 3 runs, and 2 RBIs. He hit his 1st homer of the season in the bottom of the 9th, a 2-run shot to centerfield. 2B Andy Green also hit a bomb in the 9th to lead off the inning.
The loss dropped the Sidewinders to 23-16 and the win pushed New Orleans to 17-23. The Sidewinders head off to Colorado Springs to start an 8-game road trip with the second series coming in Albuquerque.
3,396 people attended and the game lasted 3:05. The Sidewinders will take their second off day of the season Wednesday. Probables for Thursday night's game at Colorado Springs feature LHP Michael Gosling (0-0, 4.32) for Tucson facing Colorado Springs' RHP Denny Stark (2-2, 6.12). Game time is 6:05 PM.
