29 total runs were scored Saturday between the Sidewinders and the Zephyrs Saturday, but New Orleans came out on top 16-13. RHP Taylor Buchholz (1-5) picked up his first win of the year, going 5 innings and allowing 3 runs on 7 hits. In 4 innings, RHP Phil Stockman (2-2) took the loss for Tucson, surrendering 4 runs, 2 of which were earned.
2B Chris Burke, LF Phil Hiatt, and 3B Mike Coolbaugh all hit homers for the Zephyrs. The trio totaled 14 hits and walked 11 times. New Orleans scored 11 runs total in the 6th and 7th innings off of Tucson's relievers with 5 coming in the 6th and 6 in the 7th.
For Tucson, C Craig Ansman hit his second grand slam in as many days in the 8th inning to pull the Sidewinders to within 3 runs. The bomb was his only hit of the night as he finished 1-5, with 5 batted in. 2B Andy Green also went yard as he took one out in the 6th. He would add a double and finish 2-6, with 2 runs and 2 RBIs. Alan Zinter led the Sidewinders with 4 hits.
5,311 people came out to see the contest, it lasted a season long 4 hours with a total of 10 pitchers being used, 5 by each team. The loss dropped the Sidewinders to 21-15 and the win pushed New Orleans to 16-21.
Tomorrow's probables feature RHP Chad Qualls (1-1, 5.21) for New Orleans opposing LHP Jon Cannon (1-2, 5.40) for Tucson. Game time is 4:00 PM.
