New Mexico United News Release
Albuquerque, NM - New Mexico United is excited to announce the signing of defender Arturo Astorga. Astorga joins the United first team after spending last season with the New Mexico United U-23's in USL League Two. In addition to that time, Astorga has trained with the United First Team for several months, impressing teammates and technical staff alike with his effort and talent.
"Arturo has earned this opportunity," said United Head Coach Eric Quill. "Day in and day out, he has put in the effort in training - fighting to make this team better before he ever had a pro contract. We're excited to see him bring that determination to matchday, as well."
Prior to his time with the United U-23's, Astorga played college soccer at Azusa Pacific University - earning All-Conference, All-Division, and All-American honors. The El Paso-native can play as a midfielder and as a defender.
Astorga is eligible to play in tonight's match against Sacramento Republic FC, and has traveled with the team.
