Albuquerque, NM - New Mexico United and the Somos Unidos Foundation are honored to announce the inaugural class of the Diversity Fellowship Program - aimed at battling the systemic issue of access for Women and People of Color in soccer, and increasing diversity in leadership roles in our sport. The inaugural class includes two coaching fellows and two front office fellows; each of whom will receive specialized training with New Mexico United and the Somos Unidos Foundation, and a scholarship to complete a US Coaching License or Advanced Educational Program.

The inaugural class of the Diversity Fellowship Program is:

Front Office:

Leroy Silva

Juliana Meyers

Coaching:

Paris McKenzie

Terryn Dyche

In the USL Championship, USL League 1, and MLS, just 21 of 73 head coaches are People of Color and 0 of 73 are women. In the USL Championship, USL League 1, and MLS, just 6 of 73 presidents/general managers are People of Color. Just 22% of coaches and presidents in the NWSL are Women, and just One president and One head coach are People of Color.

The issues of access and representation are systemic, and New Mexico United and the Somos Unidos Foundation are committed to being part of the solution. Throughout the week, New Mexico will have the opportunity to see in-depth conversations with our first class of fellows. Stay tuned to our social media channels to hear their stories.
