New Jersey SkyCats Graduate Three Players to International Pro Contracts Overseas

New Jersey SkyCats News Release
Mahwah, NJâJanuary 10, 2005âThe old saying "change is good" can be used to describe the ABA's New Jersey SkyCats. The SkyCats just announced that three of their former players Shaheen Holloway, Mike Matthews and Edmund Saunders have all emerged from the ABA and on to professional contracts overseas.
Former Seton Hall Pirate Shaheen Holloway has left the SkyCats to play in Italy. While ex-Florida State player Mike Matthews signed with a team in Spain. UConn standout and leading SkyCat scorer Edmund Saunders has also signed a contract to play in Korea.
SkyCat owner Ron Eford's formula for success is to attract top talent to the team and help them gain exposure. Eford states "It is my intention to provide the SkyCats players with international opportunities to further their careers. In the minor leagues you lose players to the NBA and Europe and it is my job as coach to make adjustments." With his many connections both internationally and in the United States Eford wants players and agents to know, "If they come and play for the SkyCats I will help them gain a contract in the NBA or Europe immediately."
Though the SkyCats have gone through many roster changes during their first season the team continues to find success on the court as seen in their current 9-6 record.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
