New Jersey Bats Quiet In Third Loss To New Haven

Little Falls, NJ- The New Jersey Jackals dropped their third straight against New Haven, only producing five hits, in a slim 1-0 loss.

After lights out pitching by both teams, New Haven finally touched up New Jersey starter Josh Miller for a run in the bottom of the fifth. Adam Shorsher led off with a single, and Jose Mateo moved him into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt. Two batters later, Gavin Fingleson would single, pushing across Shorsher, to give his team a 1-0 lead.

Cutters' starting pitcher Orlando Encarnacion pitched six and two third innings of shutout ball, scattering four hits. He was awarded the win. Closer Shane Waroff entered the game in the ninth, and picked up his fourth save of the season.

Josh Miller, for New Jersey, would pitch his longest outing of 2004. He pitched six and a third innings, giving up one earned run on eight hits, while striking out five.

Adam Shorsher continued to hit very well against the Jackals. He went 2-3 with a single, a double and a run scored. Jose Mateo also had two hits for the Cutters.
