New Haven County Cutters announce 2006 home schedule

November 15, 2005 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
New Haven County Cutters News Release

WEST HAVEN, CT-Championship banners may be very much in evidence when the New Haven County Cutters open their 2006 home season next May 29.

The Cutters, who won the second half title in the Southern Division of the Can-Am League last September, will be hosting the overall league champion Worcester Tornadoes in that Memorial Day event at Yale Field.

Worcester came from a one-game deficit and a four-run hole in Game 2 to beat the Cutters three games to one for the Southern Division title last September, then swept Quebec in three straight to earn the Can-Am championship in their inaugural season.

"It will be a great way to launch our third season," said New Haven County General Manager Marie Heikkinen Webb, who revealed the 2006 home schedule Tuesday.

"The schedule is similar to last year's, and we felt that was a great schedule for us," Ms. Heikkinen Webb said. "We have the tremendous benefit of being at home at least part of five consecutive weekends in June and July.

The first similarities for the Cutters are that they will open on the road, then inaugurate their home schedule on Memorial Day. This is identical to their first two seasons. New Haven County will open with four games on the road against another 2005 playoff team, the Brockton (MA) Rox, then come home to Yale Field for three games against Manager Rich Gedman's Tornadoes and four against Northern Division champion Quebec. There will be a game at Yale Field every day May 29-June 4.

Nashua, NH, which has joined the league after eight seasons in the Atlantic League, will open the Cutters' second homestand June 12-15. Brockton comes to town June 16-18 for the second home weekend during the 46-game Yale Field schedule.

The Cutters have two other holiday games at home, July 4 against Elmira and a season-ending Labor Day (September 4) contest against Nashua, which will cap a four-game set against the Pride.

Full and partial season ticket packages and group tickets can be purchased either at Yale Field or by calling the Cutters at 203 777-5636. Ticket information also is available at www.CuttersBaseball.com.
