Rockford Thunder News Release

LOWELL, MASS. - The Rockford Thunder (8-10) went up against NPF strikeout leader Eileen Canney (5-4) and the New England Riptide (8-10), and came up short in a 4-0 loss on Thursday. Audrey Rendon led the Thunder offense, going 2-for-3 with a double, and Sandy Vojik also batted 2-for-3 on the evening.

Rockford's pitching put up decent numbers, including allowing just ten baserunners all night, and struck out three New England batters, but the Thunder offense was held in check all night by Canney and reliever Erica Beach.

The Riptide led off the scoring, with one run in the bottom of the second and two in the third, all off of Rockford starter Cassidy Scoggins (3-4). New England produced another run in the sixth off of two base hits.

Rendon and Vojik had the best nights at the plate for the Thunder. Kristen Zaleski also had a single for Rockford on the evening.

Rockford will look to get back to their old winning ways on Saturday for game three of the four-game set in Lowell. Game time is set for 6:05 pm Central.
