New England Surge News Release
Worcester, MA. - The New England Surge of the Continental Indoor Football League, (CIFL), officially opens training camp this week at the John Smith Sports Center in Milford, MA. For the next two weeks thirty-five talented athletes will be going through rigorous work out sessions competing to be part of the twenty-five member team roster of the New England Surge Professional Indoor Football team. The finalists comprise of twelve local players along with twenty-three from Boston, Providence and other areas. The first cut down will take place Thursday March 8, followed by cut downs to twenty-five by next week. Regular games consist of twenty-one football players dressing in uniform per game.
Coach Buff states, "These next two weeks are critical to finalizing the team roster. The biggest challenge my Assistant Coaches and I face is pairing down this mix of talented athletes to the final twenty-five.
All workouts and practices take place at the John Smith Sports Center. Former New England Patriot's place kicker John Smith is the Founder and President of the sports center. The state of the art facility sets the stage for the rigorous training schedule that is planned for the team. The three large indoor fields available closely resemble an actual indoor football arena so that the players get to practice in a facility that simulates the DCU Center.
Roy Lucas, Jr., Founder and President of the Surge states, "Combined with the launch of the media blitz this week, the community "give back" campaigns, and opening of ticket sales, finalizing the roster is another important piece of the puzzle for the Surge. Lucas continues, "We are right on target in our strategy to give Worcester and Central, Massachusetts exciting, action-packed professional football for everyone to enjoy."
