New England Surge Beats Steubenville Stampede 43—30

Worcester, MA. Roy Lucas, Jr., Owner and Interim Coach of the New England Surge of the Continental Indoor Football League, (CIFL), has another win under his belt 2-0 since assuming interim coaching responsibilities and is heading back home with an inaugural season record of 3-3. Relying on the experienced coaching staff including Coach Snay as Offensive Coordinator and Coach Haverty as Defensive Coordinator, as well as Assistant Coach Dennis Faulkner handling Player Personnel, and Assistant Coach Hampton Clarkson Defensive End/Kickers, the Surge return to back to back home games with a 3-3 record.

This game against Steubenville was critical to the Surge, needing another win to face the home game fans at the DCU Center, Worcester Mass. # 8 Marc Eddy quarterback, had 20 completions with 25 attempts, consisting of 222 yards and securing 5 touch downs resulting in the Surge 13 point win.

Tyler Grogan with a 28 TD receive at the start of the game, gained the first touch down but had to sit out the rest of the game due to a sprained ankle. Touch downs were also scored by Cy Butler with a 48 yard TD receive, and a 28 yard TD. Harold Shaw also scored a 38 yard TD, Dallas Mall with 38 yards, and Jeremy Collins with a 5 yard final return. In addition, New England's Defensive team accomplished four, fourth down stops keeping Steubenville in check for most of the game.

Surge Home Games

The Surge return to Worcester with back to back home games on May 12, 19 and 26. The Surge's regular practice schedule is Wednesday and Thursday at The Auburn SportsPlex, Teamworks on Route 20 in Auburn from 7-10PM. Press and fans are welcomed.
