
New England Defeats Saskatchewan 12-8, Moves to 2-0

SASKATOON, SK- - The New England Black Wolves defeated the Saskatchewan Rush 12-8 after scoring nine first half goals.
New England jumped out to a hot start over Saskatchewan gaining a 2-0 lead. The Black Wolves received a goal from Dave Emala with assists from Reilly O'Connor and Joe Resetarits and a goal from O'Connor with assists by Callum Crawford and Stephan Leblanc.
Saskatchewan broke up a New England scoring run with a goal by Mark Matthews. The Black Wolves then went on to receive four straight goals from Andrew Kew, Callum Crawford, Joe Resetarits and Jordan Durston, respectively.
Matthews found the back of the net again to put the New England's hot streak to a halt. The visitors then went on to score three more goals in the half. Crawford netted two of the last three goals to secure his second hat trick this season.
The Pack went into the half with a 9-4 advantage after the Rush slipped two more goals past Doug Jamieson in the net.
Saskatchewan answered back with two more goals in the third to cut the lead to three. New England was unable to net one in for the quarter.
The Black Wolves and Rush went on to exchange goals in the last quarter. O'Connor scored his second goal of the game to give the Pack a 10-6 lead. Matthews of the Saskatchewan tallied his third goal of the game and cut New England's lead for the last time.
Nick Chaykowsky and Kew closed out the contest with a goal apiece to secure the 12-8 road victory.
Defensively, Tony Malcom led the team with 10 loose balls and Joe Nardella and Mackenzie Mitchell each caused three turnovers.
New England finished the contest with 49 shots, 75 loose balls and 13 caused turnovers. Joe Nardella went 16 for 24 in the faceoff circle and is now 27-48 in two games. In the net, Jamieson had another impressive showing making 45 saves on 52 shots on goal.
Saskatchewan recorded 52 shots, 87 loose balls and caused 15 turnovers. Adam Shute and Evan Kirk stood in the net for the Rush. Together the two keepers tallied 37 saves on 48 shots on goal.
New England will head into a bye week 2-0 before hosting the New York Riptide at Mohegan Sun Arena on Friday, Dec. 27 at 7:30pm EST.
