New England at Saskatchewan Preview-Game Notes

New England Black Wolves News Release


SASKATOON, SK. - New England will hit the road on Saturday, Dec. 14 to compete against the Saskatchewan Rush in the second game of the season. This matchup will mark only the 11th time the two opponents have competed against one another; the series is tied, 5-5.

History: Over the last two seasons, New England and Saskatchewan have split the contests 1-1. In 2018, the Black Wolves defeated the Rush 12-11 at home. The year prior, the Rush captured a 24-11 home win.

New England: The Black Wolves are headed into game two of the season after a defining 12-8 win over Toronto on Saturday, Dec. 7. Callum Crawford, Doug Jamieson and Joe Resetarits were named the Stars of The Game.

Offense: Leading the pack on offense after just one game is Callum Crawford, Joe Resetarits, Jordan Durston and Andrew Kew.

Crawford recorded a team high seven points on a hat-trick and four assists. Resetarits followed behind with two goals and three assists for five points. In their first year with New England, Durston and Kew added much expected support. Durston scored two goals while the rookie scored one and assisted on three others.

Crawford, the veteran forward is currently in an three-way tie for second in points recorded in the league. He is also in an 11-way tie for second in goals scored.

Defense: Defensively, Captain Brett Manney continued to be a strong asset has he has in the past. Manney caused two turnovers, and collected four loose balls. Ty Logan and Nick Chaykowsky each added in a caused turnover as well as five loose balls collected.

Doug Jamieson, the second star of the game and New England's Player of the Game, was a difference maker in his team's first game of the season. Jamieson, recorded 46 saves on 54 shots faced. He also only allowed two goals in the second half.

Among the 13 goalkeepers to compete so far, he is tied for fourth in saves and is fifth in save percentage (.852).

Saskatchewan: The Rush are currently 1-0 after defeating the Colorado Mammoth on the road, 9-8.

Five Rush players are on the board after facing the Mammoth. Robert Church holds the top spot in scoring and assists with three and five, respectively. Ryan Keenan follows behind with six points on four assists and two goals. Connor Robinson, Ben McIntosh and Mark Matthews have also netted in goals for the Rush. Jeremy Thompson took 15 of the Rush's 21 faceoffs and won 10.

Against Colorado, Saskatchewan recorded 15 caused turnovers, three of which came from defenseman Ryan Dilks and two which came from Mike Messenger on transition.

Kirk Evan stood in the net throughout the entire contest. He made 34 saves on 42 shots faced and finished with a .81 save percentage. Of the 13 goalies that have seen action this season, Evan ranks seventh in save percentage and 12th in saves.

Looking Ahead: New England has a bye the week of Dec. 16 before hosting the New York Riptide on Saturday, Dec. 27 at the Mohegan Sun Arena. Faceoff is set for 7:30 PM and the first 3,000 fans will receive a t-shirt courtesy of Coca-Cola.
