Port Huron Flags News Release

Port Huron, MI – The Port Huron Beacons of the United Hockey League (UHL) announce the signing of forward Mike Corneau.

Corneau, a native of Sudbury, ONT was picked up by the Beacons after starting training camp with the Fort Wayne Komets. Port Huron acquired his rights for an undisclosed amount of cash. Corneau has played the last three years with the University of Ottawa. During the 2002-2003 season, he earned five goals, 14 assists and 22 penalty minutes in 22 games.

"Mike is a rookie with size that we will be able to use in all situations," said Head Coach Bruce Ramsay. Corneau scored one of the goals during the 4-0 loss to Fort Wayne in preseason.

With the addition of Corneau, the Beacons released JP Pauly and Bill Boyes from training camp earlier this week.

Port Huron starts their second season with a home and home series against the Flint Generals. The season starts on October 24th in Flint with the Beacons home opener the next evening on October 25th. Individual game tickets are now on sale at the main office and Birchwood Mall location. For a complete schedule log on to the website at www.beaconshockey.com.
