Nelson Added to Coaching Staff

The Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League announced in a press conference this afternoon that they have added Mike Nelson as an Assistant Coach.

Nelson played half of his junior career as a member of the Otters. From 1999-2001 the former forward registered 29 goals and 43 assists for 72 points in 88 games in an Erie uniform. He added another seven goals and 11 points in 27 post-season contests.

The 25 year-old Erie resident also played for Sault Ste. Marie and Oshawa before embarking on a four-year pro career that concluded in 2005-2006.

"I'm thrilled for the opportunity to return to such a great organization," Nelson said. "I'm really looking forward to working with the players and contributing any way I can to what will certainly be a valuable learning experience."

"Mike is another special young man who was part of our past winning ways as a member of the Erie Otters," Otters Managing Partner and General Manager Sherry Bassin said. "We're very fortunate to have such a committed young man with great values and understanding of the game here in Erie. It was a simple decision to add Mike to our team as a key member of our support staff."

2006-2007 Erie Otters Season Tickets are now on sale. Reserve your seats now and save big over the Box Office price. Platinum level tickets are $376.74, Gold level tickets are $328.61 and a Child (12 and under) Season Ticket in any seating level is $230.48. All prices do not include the City of Erie Entertainment Tax or fees. There are additional savings for Erie Youth Hockey Association and Erie Lady Lions members.

Single game tickets for the 2006-2007 OHL Season will go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, August 30th at all Erie-area TicketMaster locations as well as the Civic Center Box Office. Platinum tickets are $13.50, Gold Tickets are $11.50 and Children (12 and under) are $9.50 in any seating area. All single game ticket prices include the City of Erie Entertainment Tax.
