SS Trace Tam Sing

Senior, Newport Gulls

Washington State University

Everson, WA

In four games Tam Sing, a 22nd round pick of the Boston Red Sox out of high school, hit .500 (9-for-18), with five doubles, scored six runs and stole five bases. He stole two bases and scored two runs in a 7/22 win over Keene, and then smacked five doubles over two games against Sanford and Laconia

RHP Ryan Tezak

Tezak appeared in two games this week, earning the win on July 27th against Newport and the save on July 25th against Ocean State. In 6.1 innings, Tezak struck out 10, yielded just one hit and walked two while not allowing a run

OF Chandler Brock (Vermont/Alabama Huntsville)- Hit .440 on the week, picking up 11 hits, scoring five runs and stealing four bases

OF Jacob Bruce (Holyoke/Kennesaw State)- Hit .455 (5-for-11) with a double and five walks

INF Matt Ford (Keene/Hofstra)- Hit .450 (9-for-20) with a triple and five RBI

C Kevin Krause (Vermont/Stony Brook)- Hit .538 (7-for-13) with three doubles and an RBI

C-INF Max Nogay (New Bedford/West Virginia)- Hit .455 (5-for-11) with a homer, a double, three walks and four RBI

1B Chris Shaw (New Bedford/Boston College)- Drove in eight runs while hitting .429. Smacked two doubles

OF Joe Torres (Laconia/Iona)- All Star Game MVP hit .500 (6-for-12) with six walks, two doubles and a steal

RHP Nick Cioffi (Saratoga/Towson)- Struck out nine and yielded just four hits in 10 shutout innings

LHP David Hickey (Vermont/Yale)- Struck out nine and allowed no earned runs in 7 innings in getting win against Saratoga 7/25

LHP Eric Hill (Sanford/Michigan)- Allowed just one hit and struck out four in seven shutout innings

RHP Brian Hunter (Keene/Hartford)- Struck out 20 in two appearances, totaling 9.7 innings. Had a 2.79 ERA for the week

RHP Joel Rosencrance (Mystic/St. Bonaventure)- Allowed just two hits and one walk in eight shutout innings in 7/26 win against Saratoga

LHP Scott Squier (North Adams/Hawaii)- Allowed two earned runs in 16 innings in two starts, striking out 14 and walking just one

RHP Henry Van Zant (Holyoke/Bowdoin)- Allowed one run and four hits, fanning eight, in two appearances totaling 9.7 innings

Playoffs

The top four teams in each Division will reach the post season. The Divisional semi-finals start August 3rd with the 1 and 4 seeds playing each other, and the 2 and 3 seeds playing each other. The three playoff series are all a best of three.
