Holyoke, MA - The Holyoke Blue Sox will host a Military/Public Service Appreciation Night tonight when they play the Danbury Westerners in a critical Western Division matchup at Mackenzie Stadium. Gates open at 5:30 PM for the 6:35 PM start.

The game will honor in particular the local military from Chicopee's Westover Air Reserve Base and Westfield's Barnes Air National Guard Base, the police and firefighters from the Springfield Police Department and Springfield Fire Department, and the staff-including United States Marshals-at the Federal Courthouse in Springfield, but all police, firefighters, EMTs, and military will be able to attend the contest for free with a valid service ID.

"Massachusetts has a rich history of public service, from the militia at the beginnings of the American Revolution through to today's law enforcement officers who so gallantly risked their lives during the tragedy at the Boston Marathon. We wanted to show our gratitude for their sacrifice to the greater good of our state and country," Blue Sox assistant director of media relations Seth Dussault said.

The Blue Sox currently sit in fourth place in the Western Division with a two game lead over fifth place Saratoga. Holyoke have won four of its last five games including wins against Saratoga, Keene and North Adams.

Holyoke has five games left in the regular season to secure their spot in the payoffs and four of those come at Mackenzie Stadium.
