Nebraska Danger News Release

GRAND ISLAND - There is a whole lot of new to talk about for the start of the 2019 season for the Nebraska Danger.

A new head coach, new starting quarterback, and there's even a new opponent for the team to concern itself with on Saturday, February 23 as the Bismarck Bucks pay a visit to the Heartland Events Center to start the year.

The Danger revamped its coaching staff and of course its roster during the offseason. Former assistant coach Pig Brown is now leading the team, and he's brought in some familiar faces to stand by him in battle.

Fellow IFL Hall of Famer and former Danger quarterback Jameel Sewell is taking over the offensive coordinator duties in 2019, while former defensive star Xzavie Jackson sheds the pads to be the team's defensive coordinator after playing for the team in 2018. They are joined by Damon Ware, who will be coaching the line this season.

Possibly the biggest headline of the offseason, however, is the team's acquisition of former Nebraska quarterback Tommy Armstrong, Jr. and the former Husker has hit the ground running with the team in camp. Armstrong spent time in camp with the Minnesota Vikings of the NFL and a few other football leagues before finding a home with the Danger in the IFL.

Their first test will be a Bismarck Bucks team who is a first-year member of the IFL in 2019 after playing the past two years in the CIF, but they'll be bringing in a familiar face in their head coaching position. Rod Miller is in his first year in Bismarck after being the defensive coordinator and associate head coach for the Omaha Beef last season.

Kickoff on Agriculture Appreciation Night is set for 7 p.m. at the Heartland Events Center in Grand Island. Tickets are available at the Heartland Events Center Box Office, are Pump & Pantrys, and via Ticketmaster. Visit www.dangerfootball.com for details.
