Nebraska Danger Set to Face the Texas Revolution

GRAND ISLAND, NE - After a much needed bye week, the Nebraska Danger return home this Saturday night with a game against the Texas Revolution. Kickoff is slated for 7:05 PM at the Heartland Events Center and the game is presented by Pump and Pantry in conjunction with the GRACE Foundation.
The Danger (4-2) have been off since March 23 when they lost to the Colorado Ice, 38-30 in Loveland, CO. The Danger were limited offensively, playing without quarterback Jameel Sewell and running back Troy Evans, while also seeing wide receiver Andre Piper-Jordan go down early in the game.
"I don't think the bye could have come at a better time," Danger coach Mike Davis said. "We were the first team in the league to get to six games and some teams still have only played four. We needed the time to get healed up. With two home games and two off weeks in April, we hope to get healed up for the stretch run."
Despite gaining just 73 yards of total offense, the Danger were within 31-30 with 10:35 left in the game against Colorado. But after the Ice got a Dennis Kennedy touchdown on their next possession, the Danger offense was held on downs and Colorado held the ball for the final 5:18 of the game to secure the victory.
With one of the most prolific offenses in the IFL last year, the Danger has relied on defense through their first six games of 2014. The Nebraska defense leads the league in defensive touchdowns, is second in the IFL in points allowed per game, third in pass defense and fourth in total defense. Linebacker Pig Brown is second in the league with five sacks on the season and Jamar Love is second in the IFL in interceptions with four - he has returned two for touchdowns.
"Our defense has done a pretty good job for us since the first week in Sioux Falls," Davis said. "We hope we can get the offense on track here this month and see where it takes us. We are probably as healthy as we have been since the first week of the season."
Davis said that Sewell, Evans and Piper-Jordan will all be available this week as the Danger host the first of two April contests. The Revs (2-2) have league-leading passing quarterback Jimmy Coy averaging just over 180 yards per contest. His favorite target is Clinton Solomon who leads the league in receiving yards/game (88.5) and touchdown receptions (10).
Saturday will also be a Pink Out as the Danger partner with the GRACE Foundation to promote cancer awareness. The game will feature pink footballs, recognition of cancer survivors and participants in the fourth annual Race for GRACE that was completed on Saturday. For every ticket purchased between now at Friday at area Pump & Pantry stores, $3 will be given back to the GRACE Foundation. In addition, 10% of all proceeds from pink merchandise will be donated as well.
