SOUTHAVEN, Miss.—RiverKings forward Jay Neal attended the Ninth Annual Big Scoop Ice Cream Festival Saturday at Agricenter International to benefit Ronald McDonald House, sponsored by Schnucks grocery stores.

Neal spent a portion of the afternoon piling tubs of ice cream in the top of the President's Cup (which the RiverKings captured for the second time this past season) in an attempt to score first place in the Celebrity Sundae Making Contest. The RiverKings' good fortune didn't hold true for Neal in the ice-cream contest.

"I was outmatched by the start, so I'll have to spend the next year getting creative so I can give a better performance next time," Neal said, laughing.

Neal crammed in some last-minute decision-making when his plan to write "Kings" on top of his sundae melted away. He decided in the final seconds to crown the sundae with his RiverKings Championship Ring to try to get some more votes from the crowd, but to no avail. Hilton hotels won again with their three-story ice-cream replica of a hotel facility (and lots of candy that they threw out during the building of their sundae).

Neal's final verdict? "It was the best-tasting loss I'd ever had," Neal said.

MINI GOLF TOURNAMENT TO BENEFIT RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE

Neal will participate in a mini golf tournament at Dulin's Sports Academy in Southaven on Tuesday, September 21st, as part of an effort to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House. Ronald McDonald House is a home away from home for families and children receiving treatment at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The RiverKings are working on a community investment project with Ronald McDonald House in which the RiverKings provide a designated amount of tickets to the house for one game each month so families staying there could attend. Neal would serve as an ambassador to the families staying at the facility.
