Neagle wins one for the Oaks

VISALIA – Denny Neagle completed his rehabilitation assignment with the Oaks by throwing six shutout innings against San Jose in a 10-1 win over the Giants. Neagle improved his career California League record to 9-0 with the victory. He allowed three hits and one walk on Thursday with seven strikeouts.

Brian Barre broke a scoreless tie with his fifth home run of the season over the right field wall to put the Oaks in front 3-0 with no outs in the fifth. Barre finished the game 3-for-5 and tripled in the third inning.

Tony Miller scored twice and went 3-for-5. Doug Bernier walked three times and scored following each walk.

Justin Lincoln delivered a key two out, two run single in the seventh inning. Three runs scored on the play when the throw from right fielder Daniel Ortmeier bounced past third baseman Zack Roper.

Isaac Pavlik and Ryan Speier combined to preserve the shutout through the seventh and eighth innings. The Giants touched Sean Green for their only run of the game on three hits in the ninth inning. A single with two out by Branden Florence put the Giants on the scoreboard.

Only .500: Visalia is now 4-4 against San Jose this season. The Giants continue to have the worst record in the California League at 9-20.
