DEGREE FOR "Z": Columbus guard Derrick Zimmerman will take a break from the Riverdragons today for a quick trip back to Mississippi State University. Zimmerman will take part in fall semester graduation ceremonies after completing requirements for his Bachelor's Degree in Fitness Management.
ANOTHER ALTITUDE RECORD: For the second time this week the Asheville Altitude has scratched a new entry in the NBDL single-game record book. The Altitude's 74 points in the second half of a 116-95 win at Huntsville on Friday is a new mark for points in a half, breaking the old mark of 61 which was set twice by Coach Meyer's team during the 2001-02 season.
FAITH AND FAMILY: The Roanoke Dazzle returns home for the first time since Nov. 19 when it plays host to the Fayetteville Patriots tonight on Star Country Faith and Family Night with Cheer USA. The Dazzle split its recent six-game road swing.
GAME OF THE WEEK: NBA TV will feature tonight's Fayetteville at Roanoke contest on its "NBDL Game of the Week" show. Tune in to NBA TV to catch a new and innovative way to watch a basketball game on Dec. 17 at 4:30 p.m. ET.
FIRST ROAD GAME: The Florida Flame plays its first road game in the brief history of the team today, visiting the Huntsville Flight.
CAMPING OUT AT THE VBC: The Florida Flame won't be the only group spending a night away from home at the Von Braun Center tonight in Huntsville. Hundreds of youngsters will also be enjoying the game before camping out at the VBC as part of "Boy Scout Night with the Flight".
NBDL QUIZ: The Columbus Riverdragons are 7-1 and off to the best start in team history. Can you name the only NBDL team to get off to a better start to a season?
JOEY AND JEFF: By getting his team off to a 7-1 start, Columbus head coach Jeff Malone is beginning to close the gap on Asheville's Joey Meyer as the winningest active coach in NBDL history. Friday's win at Huntsville was Meyer's 82nd. Malone notched number 79 Thursday against the Altitude.
37 TO SHOWCASE: There are 37 days left until the start of the MLK Showcase, when all six NBDL teams will gather in Columbus, Ga. to play six games in two days on January 16-17.
QUIZ ANSWER: The North Charleston Lowgators, coached by current Toronto Raptors assistant coach and Hall of Famer Alex English, won six consecutive games to open the 2001-02 season. Columbus was 5-1 in its first six games this season.
