December 10, 2019 - NBA G League (G League) News Release


MEGA MAGETTE: Orlando Magic two-way player Josh Magette was named NBA G League Player of the Week for games played Monday, Dec. 2 through Sunday, Dec. 8. The point guard averaged 25 points and 10 assists in three games for the Lakeland Magic. Magette and the Magic will host the Long Is- land Nets on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 3 p.m. ET on NBA TV.

EYES ON THE PRIZE: With the 2019 MGM Resorts NBA G League Winter Showcase nine days away, teams are making their final push ahead of the new tournament format. Teams will be ranked 1-28 based on their records through the first 12 games of the season, and the top four teams will be placed into the Championship Bracket to compete for a $100,000 prize.

SHINING STARS: The Salt Lake City Stars (8-2) have won eight straight games, putting them in prime position for one of the top four seeds at the Winter Showcase. The Stars have been propelled by Utah Jazz two-way player Jarrell Brantley (17.9 ppg, 6.9 rpg), who tallied 20 points and eight rebounds in a 125-100 victory over the Northern Arizona Suns on Dec. 7.

On Friday, Dec. 9, former Westchester Knicks head coach Mike Miller was named interim head coach of the New York Knicks. Miller is the third NBA G League Dennis Johnson Coach of the Year award recipient to become an active NBA head coach, joining Nick Nurse (Toronto Raptors) and Quin Snyder (Utah Jazz).

Miller led the Westchester Knicks to a 108- 92 record and three playoff appearances in four seasons as head coach. He joined New York as an assistant coach this season.

Delaware Blue Coats guard Xavier Munford scored an NBA G League season-high 44 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a 128- 123 victory against the Maine Red Claws on Dec. 7.

On Dec. 8, Denver Nuggets two-way player Bol Bol posted 21 points, six rebounds and five blocks while connecting on three three-pointers for the Windy City Bulls in a 118-83 victory over the Santa Cruz Warriors.

Brandon Goodwin, a two-way player for the Atlanta Hawks, registered 32 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for the College Park Skyhawks as they defeated the Greensboro Swarm 130-108 on Dec. 3.
