TRYOUT TREASURE: Long Island Nets guard Craig Randall II has been named the NBA G League Player of the Month for games played in February. The NBA G League rookie averaged 25.0 points, 7.8 assists and 6.0 rebounds in nine games (8-1) , highlighted by back- to-back triple-doubles in wins over the Windy City Bulls and the Grand Rapids Gold. Randall becomes the first local tryout player in NBA G League history to earn Player of the Month honors, as well as the first for the Long Island Nets franchise.
NEW YORK STATE OF MIND: Long Island Nets head coach Adam Caporn has been named the NBA G League Coach of the Month for games played in February. The Australia native steered the Nets to an 8-2 record, the best mark in the Eastern Conference. Caporn and Long Island are riding a six-game winning streak going into their upcoming game at home against the Delaware Blue Coats on March 2 at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
IT AVERAGES 40: Grand Rapids Gold guard Isaiah Thomas was named the NBA G League Player of the Week for games played Monday, Feb. 14 through Sun- day, Feb. 27. The two-time NBA All-Star averaged 41.3 points and 6.3 assists in three games for the Gold, including pouring in an NBA G League season-best 46 points in its 122-106 victory over the Greensboro Swarm on Feb. 26.
On Feb. 14, Fort Wayne Mad Ants guard Andrew Rowsey tallied 41 points and four assists in a 137- 128 victory over the College Park Skyhawks.
Miami Heat two-way guard Javonte Smart finished with 40 points, six assists and four rebounds for the Sioux Falls Skyforce in a 130-119 win over the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Feb. 15
On Feb. 24, Delaware Blue Coats center-forward Charles Bassey posted a near triple-double of 23 points, 10 rebounds and eight blocks in a 130-108 win over the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
Also on Feb. 24, Birmingham Squadron guard Darius Adams recorded a double-double of 32 points and 15 rebounds in a 126-120 victory over the Santa Cruz Warriors.
On that same day, Grand Rapids Gold forward Petr Cornelie added an impressive double-double of 31 points and 19 rebounds in a 129-118 victory over the Maine Celtics.
