NEW YORK, March 25, 2011 -- The NBA D-League and its teams and players will host a variety of greening events in a collaborative effort to generate awareness for protecting the environment as part of NBA D-League Green Week 2011, which will tip off March 26 and run through April 2. adidas, the league's official outfitter, will outfit all players with 100 percent organic cotton shooting shirts in support of Green Week.

Throughout the week, NBA D-League teams will strive to raise environmental awareness and encourage fans to become more environmentally friendly through several hands-on service projects and events, which will include the following:

The Rio Grande Valley Vipers along with the City of McAllen are working together to help educate middle school students about the importance of recycling. The City of McAllen purchased tickets for students that turn in a project made of recyclable materials. March 23 was the Rio Grande Valley Vipers Go Green night and the top projects will be on display on the concourse table. The G2 (G squared) team will also be at the game educating the fans on what is recyclable and what is not.

The Idaho Stampede purchased 4,800 kilowatts of wind energy through Idaho Power's Green Power program to offset the electricity used at its last 10 home games of the season. In addition, the Stampede will partner with Idaho Power to give all fans who attend the April 1 and 2 games compact fluorescent (CFL) light bulbs and light emitting diode (LED) night lights respectively.

The Texas Legends will host an Electronics Recycling event on March 27. For every acceptable item recycled during the Electronics Recycling Event, fans will receive tickets and parking for an exclusive pregame shootaround prior to the Legends game that evening against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Each fan that recycles at least one item will automatically be entered into a contest for the chance to win courtside seats for the Legends - Vipers game.

The Tulsa 66ers players, coaches, and staff are partnering with Rebuilding Together of Tulsa assisting in the refurbishment of a home in Tulsa on March 29.

The Bakersfield Jam will partner with Kwik Signs during Bakersfield home games in support of Green Week by sponsoring an on-court contest (March 26 - 27, April 2) that integrates environmentally-oriented facts/ideas. During each game PA announcements will provide fans tips on how to be environmentally-friendly.
