Published on May 1, 2014 under NBA G League (G League) News Release

NEW YORK, May 1, 2013 - The NBA Development League had a record-breaking year with one-third of players on 2013-14 NBA end-of-season rosters (149) boasting NBA D-League experience and the league setting a record with 36 players earning 49 GATORADE Call-Ups during a full NBA regular season. Attendance grew during the league's 13th season as it surpassed the million total attendance mark for a fifth straight year.

Additionally, the 17-team NBA D-League saw an all-time record 14 teams with one-to-one affiliations with NBA teams. The season featured the Philadelphia 76ers joining the ever-expanding roster of NBA teams to own or operate their minor league affiliate when the Delaware 87ers joined the league this season and the two-time defending NBA Champion Miami Heat forging a direct affiliation with the Sioux Falls Skyforce. In addition, the Sacramento Kings entered into a single affiliation with the Reno Bighorns this past season.

The league concluded the season by announcing a record 18 teams will take the floor for the 2014-15 season, more than doubling the number of teams (8) that competed during the league's inaugural season in 2001-02. Beginning in November, the New York Knicks' new affiliate will make its home in Westchester, N.Y. while the Detroit Pistons will enter a direct affiliation with a new team in Grand Rapids, Mich., for the start of the new season.
