IOWA'S JEFFERS NAMED NBA DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE PERFORMER OF THE WEEK
Othyus Jeffers of the Iowa Energy was named NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played during the week of Nov. 21. A 6-5, 200-pound guard/forward, Jeffers led Iowa to a 2-1 record for the week, averaging 25.0 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.3 steals. Iowa earned a 111-103 win over Dakota on Monday and split back-to-back games against Tulsa on Friday and Saturday. Jeffers put up 32 points, 18 rebounds and four assists in Iowa's 123-111 victory at Tulsa on Friday. Though the 66ers earned a 116-108 win over the Energy on Saturday, Jeffers had a game-high 31 points, six rebounds and five assists.
SACRAMENTO KINGS ASSIGN HASSAN WHITESIDE TO NBA D-LEAGUE AFFILIATE RENO BIGHORNS
Sacramento Kings center Hassan Whiteside was assigned to the Reno Bighorns, the Kings' NBA Development League affiliate, it was announced yesterday. The assignment marks the ninth time in the 2010-11 season an NBA player has been assigned to an NBA D-League affiliate, and it is the first assignment for Whiteside, a rookie out of Marshall. Whiteside (7-0, 235) has appeared in one regular season game and one preseason game for the Kings this year. Whiteside started all six games for Sacramento in the 2010 NBA Las Vegas Summer League, averaging 6.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and a team-high 2.3 blocks. Sacramento selected Whiteside, an early entry candidate for the 2010 NBA Draft, in the second round (33th overall) after a decorated freshman season at Marshall.
TORONTO RAPTORS RECALL ED DAVIS FROM D-LEAGUE AFFILIATE ERIE BAYHAWKS
The Toronto Raptors announced Monday rookie forward Ed Davis has been recalled from the Erie BayHawks of the NBA Development League. Davis appeared in two games with the BayHawks, averaging 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 17.5 minutes. He shot .583 percent (7-of-12) from the field. Davis is expected to rejoin the Raptors for practice Tuesday and be on the active roster for Wednesday's game versus Washington.
