RIO GRANDE VALLEY'S ANDERSON NAMED NBA DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Antonio Anderson of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers has been named NBA Development League Player of the Month for games played in December, 2009. Anderson is the first player of the season to earn the monthly honor, and was named NBA D-League Player of the Week on Jan. 4.

In 10 games for the Vipers, the 6-6 guard averaged 18.1 points, 7.1 assists and 4.5 rebounds, while shooting 49 percent (64-of-131) from the field and leading Rio Grande Valley to an 8-2 record. During the Month, Anderson scored in double figures on nine occasions, notching two double-doubles. He scored a season-high 28 points in a Dec. 8, 2009 road victory over the Austin Toros.

Carlos Powell, who finished with 25 points, seven assists and four rebounds, scored seven points in the final 1:37 to lead the Albuquerque Thunderbirds to a 101-97 win over the Tulsa 66ers. Chad Toppert added 18 points and Antoine Agudio had 16 for Albuquerque, which won both of their games this week in Boise to improve to 6-9.

Tulsa's D.J. White, on assignment from the Oklahoma City Thunder, recorded his fourth straight double-double for the 66ers, finishing with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Mustafa Shakur added 17 points in the loss.

Ryan Forehan-Kelly led the D-Fenders with 28 points. Diamon Simpson added 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Erie's Mike Gansey filled the stat sheet, finishing with 25 points, 15 rebounds, four assists and three steals to lead the Bayhawks, while Cedric Jackson had another strong game for Erie with 16 points and 11 assists. John Bryant added 18 points and 14 rebounds.

Iowa's Curtis Stinson posted a triple-double with 18 points, 13 assists and 12 rebounds. The Energy also got key contributions from former Miami Heat center Earl Barron with 25 points and Jeff Trepagnier, who finished with 20.

Brian Butch amassed 30 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks for Bakersfield and Jeremy Wise added 20.

Utah's Dontell Jefferson scored 32 points, as the Flash defeated the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, 131-120 in the final game of the 2010 NBA D-League Showcase. Orien Greene finished with 14 points on 6-for-8 shooting. Jason Richards added 16 for the Flash.

Ron Howard led the Mad Ants with 28 points to go with eights assists and seven rebounds. Jared Reiner and Oliver Lafayette each added 21.
