NBA D-LEAGUE ALL-STARS COMING TO PHOENIX
15 players with NBA experience highlight the two ten-man rosters of top prospects who will take to Center Court at NBA All-Star Jam Session presented by adidas for the third annual NBA D-League All-Star game on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 2pm MT. The game, which features Will Conroy (Albuquerque), the league's leading scorer, along with NBA draft picks Chris Richard (Tulsa), James White (Anaheim), Luke Jackson (Idaho), Derrick Byars (Bakersfield) and Richard Hendrix (Dakota) will be coached by Austin's Quin Snyder and Iowa's Nick Nurse.
THE DREAM STARTS HERE
The second annual NBA D-League Dream Factory Friday Night returns to Center Court at Jam Session presented by adidas on Friday, Feb. 13 at 7:15pm MT when the League's top sharp shooters and dunkers take to the court in the innovative skills challenge. Brent Petway (Idaho) will defend his 2008 Slam Dunk title against James "Flight" White (Anaheim), Patrick Ewing, Jr. (Reno) and Keith Clark (Tulsa) while Lance Allred (Idaho) returns to the H.O.R.S.E. competition to defend his title from last year against Bobby Jones (Sioux Falls), Erik Daniels (Erie) and Joe Crawford (Los Angeles). The action-packed evening is rounded off by a three-point shootout featuring 2008 NBA D-League Rookie of the Year Blake Ahearn (Dakota), Trey Johnson (Bakersfield, currently playing with the Cleveland Cavaliers), Ernest Scott (Rio Grande Valley) and Gary Forbes (Tulsa).
THURSDAY NIGHT HIGHLIGHTS...top performers from Thursday's games
- Patrick Ewing, Jr. scored a team-high 23 points while grabbing 15 rebounds to complete his 40-minute double-double off the bench for the Reno Bighorns in a win over the Tulsa 66ers.
- Tulsa's Ryan Humphries led the way for the 66ers with 24 points and 12 boards, as five of his teammates also scored in double figures.
- Blake Ahearn scored 28 points and dished out 9 assists while Richard Hendrix finished with a 14-point, 15-rebound double-double for the Dakota Wizards in the win over Sioux Falls.
- Skyforce guard David Bailey scored a team-high 27 points while collecting eight assists as teammate John Edwards finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds in the road loss.
- Derrick Byars finished with a game-high 31 points and Nick Lewis scored 22 points for the Bakersfield Jam as they defeated in-state rival Anaheim at home.
- James White scored 28 points and Kedrick Brown finished with 23 points and 10 boards in Anaheim's loss to the Jam.
ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENTS: A look at D-League Alumni in last night's NBA games:
10 players with D-League experience competed in three NBA games last night.
- Jordan Farmar scored seven points off the bench for the Los Angeles Lakers in the over-time win over the Boston Celtics last night.
- Maverick Jose Barea finished with nine points and five assists in 19 minutes as Dallas played five total players with NBA D-League experience.
- Morris Almond was one of two Utah players with NBA D-League experience (joining Kyrylo Fesenko) to play in last night's game. He scored five points in just over 4 minutes of action.
