Byars Dynamite from Downtown in Jam Victory

(Bakersfield, Calif., February 5, 2009) - Derrick Byars went 6-for-8 from three-point range and scored a game-high 31 points as the Bakersfield Jam defeated the Anaheim Arsenal by a score of 113-104.

Both teams exchanged momentum throughout the game for a total of 17 lead changes on the night. The game was ultimately decided by decisive long-distance shooting for the Jam who, on the back of Byars' success, went 11-for-22 from downtown in the victory.

James White led the Arsenal with 28 points in the loss, one of three Anaheim players to score at least 20 points (Cedric Bozeman for 24, Kedrick Brown for 23 points and 10 rebounds). Nick Lewis supplemented Byars' efforts with a 22-point night, including a 14-for-17 effort from the free throw line.

Bakersfield improves to 16-11 while Anaheim falls to 9-18 on the season.

The teams see each other in two days, as the Jam travel to Anaheim Saturday. Bakersfield then hosts the Colorado 14ers on Sunday, February 8th at 4:00pm.
