IDAHO'S JERMAREO DAVIDSON EARNS GATORADE CALL-UP TO GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS
The Golden State Warriors signed Jermareo Davidson of the Idaho Stampede. Davidson's Gatorade Call-Up is the third this
season, the 122nd in the NBA D-League's eight-year history, and the first during the 2009 NBA D-League Showcase, currently taking place in Orem, Utah. Davidson, a 6-10 forward selected by the Stampede third in the first round of the 2008 NBA D-League Draft, has started in all 15 of the Stampede's game this season, and is averaging 16.1 points and 10.8 rebounds.
CLIPPERS ACQUIRE CHEIKH SAMB FROM NUGGETS
The Denver Nuggets have acquired a future conditional second-round draft pick from the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for Cheikh Samb, currently assigned to the Colorado 14ers, and cash considerations. Samb was acquired by the Nuggets along with G Chauncey Billups and F Antonio McDyess on Nov. 3 and posted averages of 1.5 rpg and 0.83 bpg in six contests with Denver. He was assigned to the Colorado 14ers of the NBA Development league on Dec. 10 and has averaged 12.4 ppg, 7.1 rpg and 3.80 bpg in 10 games on assignment.
ANAHEIM'S JAMES WHITE NAMED NBA D-LEAGUE PERFORMER OF THE WEEK
James White of the Anaheim Arsenal has been named the NBA D-League Performer of the Week for games played during the week of Dec. 29, 2008. The honor is the first of the season for an Arsenal player. White averaged 28.0 points while shooting .633 (19-of-30) from the field. He scored a season-high 31 points in Anaheim's loss to Dakota on Saturday. A 6-7 forward, White is leading Anaheim with 22.4 points this season in 14 games, a mark that is good for third in the league. Last Season, White played with the Austin Toros on assignment from the San Antonio Spurs.
MONDAY NIGHT HIGHLIGHTS...top performers from Monday's games
The Albuquerque Thunderbirds, led by Player of the Game Will Conroy, with a 26-point, 11-assist effort. Teammate Keith McLeod added 24.
Sioux Falls was led by Gary Forbes who came off of the bench to score 30 points on 12-of-17 shooting. Forbes was complimented by teammates Bobby Jones and Keith Brumbaugh, who each scored 15.
The Toros were led by the combination of Marcus Williams, who scored 14 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter and Malik Hairston, on assignment from the San Antonio Spurs, who scored 23. Williams also grabbed ten rebounds, while Charles Gaines chipped in with 18 boards.
Colorado's offense was spearheaded by Sonny Weems' 21 point outing during his assignment from the Denver Nuggets. He was complimented by Josh Davis who finished with a double-double (17 points, 12 rebounds).
Trey Johnson poured in 34 points to lead the Bakersfield Jam to a 90-87 victory over the Los Angeles D-Fenders. Derrick Byars recorded his first double-double of the season with 22 points and 17 rebounds. Nick Lewis added 17 points and Ashanti Cook 12.
Joe Crawford scored 16 points to lead Los Angeles. Anthony Coleman added 15, while Jamaal Brown and Darren Cooper chipped in 12 and Dwayne Mitchell had 11.
Antonio Meeking recorded his sixth double-double with 27 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Reno Bighorns to a 102-78 victory. Patrick Ewing, Jr. came off the Reno bench to score 16 points, while Jesse Smith chipped in 13 to round out double-digit scorers for the Bighorns.
Trent Strickland led Rio Grande Valley scorers with 17 points. Alpha Bangura added 15 points and Joey Dorsey 12 for the Vipers.
ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENTS...a look at D-League Alumni in last night's NBA games
14 players with D-League experience competed in five NBA games last night, five as starters.
Steven Graham finished with 16 points and five rebounds in 29 minutes of play for the Indiana Pacers.
Milwaukee's Ramon Sessions scored 11 points and dished eight assists for the Bucks.
