WEDNESDAY NIGHT HIGHLIGHTS...top performers from Wednesday's D-League games
v Dakota's Carlos Powell led the way for the Wizards with 31 points and 7 assists, while Blake Ahearn finished with 29 points and Rod Benson scored 19 and pulled down 13 rebounds.
v Kasib Powell scored 28 points for Sioux Falls in the loss and Dontell Jefferson finished with a triple-double of 13 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists.
ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENTS...a look at D-League Alumni in last night's NBA games
Eighteen players with D-League experience competed in 10 NBA games last night, four of them as starters. Here is a look at the highlights:
v Mickael Gelabale recorded 16 points, dishing out four assists and pulling down three rebounds in 28 minutes for the Seattle SuperSonics.
v Matt Carroll came off the bench for the Charlotte Bobcats to score 19 points and grab four rebounds in 30 minutes of action.
v Sacramento Kings forward/center Mikki Moore finished with 10 points and seven boards in a 33 minutes.
v Martell Webster scored 15 points and grabbed five rebounds in 37 minutes and teammate Von Wafer finished with 11 points and chipped in with five rebounds of his won in 32 minutes for the Portland Trail Blazers.
COOK AND ANTHONY HEAD TO IOWA: The Miami Heat yesterday assigned rookies Daequan Cook and Joel Anthony to its NBA Development League affiliate Iowa Energy. Cook and Anthony become the 29th and 30th NBA players, respectively, to be assigned to a D-League affiliate this season. The duo will practice with the Energy today, and are expected to suit up on Sunday, March 2, when the Energy travels to Albuquerque to take on the Thunderbirds.
