June 19, 2013 - Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL)
North Shore Navigators News Release
In a poll released Tuesday, Perfect Game has ranked the North Shore Navigators as the 23rd best summer collegiate team in the nation. The Navigators are the lone representatives of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League.
Perfect Game is an organization that employs around 50 fulltime and well over 100 others part time staff, all with vast professional and/or college baseball experience. Perfect Game has the largest scouting department in all of baseball. The Perfect Game database is the largest of its kind anywhere in baseball. At any given time there will be nearly 100,000 high school players being followed via the database.
"We have been opportunistic, "said General Manager Bill Terlecky. "The team has produced hits when they needed to, especially in the late innings. Going into the season we knew that we were going to be solid offensively, and so far that has proven out. Our hope is that our success will continue."
This season the Navigators are off to a 5-0 start which places them at the top of the standings, holding off the Nashua Silver Knights by 1 game. The Navigators lead the league in both doubles and slugging percentage while having the least amount of strikeouts. The Navigator's pitching staff has also posted a 2.80 ERA while keeping opposing batters to a .296 batting average.
"So far we are off to a great start but the season is still young," said Head Coach Jon Cahill. "Our team is still getting used to the different styles of play that their teammates are bringing to the table. I firmly believe that when this team hits their stride they have the potential to be an extremely good baseball team."
The Navigators return to Fraser Field Thursday June 20th as they play host to the Brockton Rox, and then again on Saturday when they play host to the Martha's Vineyard Sharks. Both games are scheduled to start at 7:00 PM.
