Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release
The Northwest Arkansas Naturals will team up with Toys for Tots again this holiday season to collect toys for underprivileged children in Northwest Arkansas. Arvest Ballpark is an official dropoff station for Toys for Tots anytime during the holiday season during normal business hours.
The Toys for Tots toy drive is also supported locally by 40/29 TV as well as Magic 107.9, Kix 104, Hot Mix 101.9, and 93.3 The Eagle.
The United States Marine Corps will be on hand along with members of the Naturals staff to support Toys for Tots at Arvest Ballpark on Saturday, December 13th from 9:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. and Sunday, December 14th from 10:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. The Marines and the Naturals are aiming to reach their goal of filling a Go-Mini storage crate with new, unwrapped holiday gifts. Weather permitting; the Naturals will also have their popular inflatable moonbounce and obstacle course set up. Local personalities from the partner radio stations will also be on hand, and Red Dirt Outfitters, the Naturals' official team store, is open and will have a visit from Santa on December 14th.
Toys for Tots has been a recognizable program every Christmas since 1947. The program is run by the US Marine Corps Reserve with the mission "to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted."
Although last year, 16.7 million toys were distributed to 7.5 million needy children across the country, Toys for Tots is committed to keeping toys donated in Northwest Arkansas for the sole benefit of underprivileged youth in the greater area. The Northwest Arkansas Naturals are the Double-A Texas League affiliate of the Kansas City Royals and will open the home portion of their 2009 season on Thursday, April 16th against the San Antonio Missions.
