Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release

Clay Dungan homered in the first inning and the Northwest Arkansas Naturals maintained that lead all night long, beating the Frisco RoughRiders 6-2 on Saturday night at Riders Field.

Dungan, hitting third in the order for the first time all season, sent a ball over the right field field for a 1-0 lead and Northwest Arkansas did not surrender the lead for the entire night.

Dungan was one of five players with a two-hit game, with largely Naturals players not ranked as top prospects being the ones getting it done.

Dairon Blanco gave Northwest Arkansas a 2-0 lead with a sacrifice fly in the sixth, then scored a run in the sixth, advancing home on a wild pitch.

After a 40-minute delay in the sixth, the Naturals added another when Rudy Martin scored on a fielder's choice.

Martin drove home another insurance run in the seventh and Brewer Hicklen (MLB Pipeline's No. 25 Royals' prospect) knocked in Dungan with a single in the eighth.

Along with Dungan; Martin, Hicklen, Blanco and Tyler Cropley each had two-hit games, with Dungan scoring twice and Travis Jones drawing two walks.

Marcelo Martinez compiled another strong start, striking out eight across four innings of one-run baseball. Robert Garcia earned his win of the season in relief, allowing a run while striking out two.

Collin Snider, Carlos Sanabria and Dylan Coleman combined at the back end of the bullpen for 4.0 scoreless innings with five strikeouts.

The staff combined for 15 strikeouts in Saturday's win, the second-highest total all season, just behind 17 against the Arkansas Travelers May 5th.

Northwest Arkansas looks for its first six-game series win of the season Sunday evening in Frisco, with Stephen Woods Jr. on the mound for Northwest Arkansas, looking to earn his second win of the week and push the Naturals back above .500.
