National Women's Soccer League Announces 2015 Houston Dash Schedule

HOUSTON (Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015) - The National Women's Soccer League announced the 2015 league schedule on Thursday, including the Houston Dash's 20-game slate for their second season.

The Dash open the 2015 campaign on April 10 at BBVA Compass Stadium against the Washington Spirit. The 10-game BBVA Compass Stadium home schedule includes two visits from 2014 NWSL Champions FC Kansas City on May 2 and July 29.

All nine teams in the NWSL will play a 20-game regular season in 2015, beginning in April and finishing in September. Teams will play an unbalanced schedule, facing four opponents three times and the remaining four twice. FC Kansas City, the Washington Spirit, Sky Blue FC and the Chicago Red Stars appear three times on the Dash schedule.

T he league will also take a two-week break in June during the group stage of the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada, where the Dash expect to have several players participating. The World Cup begins on June 6. The top four teams at the end of the regular season will qualify for the 2015 NWSL playoffs. The two semifinal matches on the weekend of September 12-13 with the championship match scheduled on the weekend of September 26-27.

The home slate features four Saturday games, three Friday home dates, two Sunday games and one Wednesday match. All home matches are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT starts.

The 2015 season marks the second in franchise history for the Dash. Head coach Randy Waldrum and managing director Brian Ching have made several major moves during the offseason, bring in United States Women's National Team stars Carli Lloyd and Morgan Brian as well as Canada Women's National Team defender Allysha Chapman.
