National Night Out

August 2, 2005 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Corpus Christi IceRays News Release

The Corpus Christi Rayz are pleased to announce their involvement in the 2005 National Night Out. On Tuesday night, Rayz mascot Stinger Ray will accompany the Corpus Christi Police Department to various youth block parties as part of a nation-wide effort to fight crime. From 7:00-9:00pm, communities throughout Corpus Christi will join areas throughout the United States as part of this national event. Stinger Ray and the CCPD are teaming up to join as many parties as possible Tuesday night and teach Coastal Bend children about the dangers involved in a life of crime.

The Rayz are one of many partners aiding in National Night Out. The Rayz join the CCPD, Nueces County Sheriff's Department, CCISD, City of Corpus Christi and more. The Rayz are excited to lend a hand to the Corpus Christi community.

"As a symbol of the Coastal Bend, it is our not only our duty, but our privilege to participate in events like National Night Out," Rayz General Manager, Larry Linde said. "If seeing Stinger Rayz at this event makes the night more enjoyable or the message more meaningful, then it's a success. Our job is to represent the community in a positive way as much as it is to win hockey games or entertain people."

The Corpus Christi Rayz will begin their eighth consecutive season in the Coastal Bend on Friday, October 21st in Austin. The Rayz home opener will be Saturday, October 22nd at 7:35pm vs. division rivals, the Austin Ice Bats. Last season Corpus Christi broke a franchise attendance record, welcoming more than 123,000 fans in their first season at the American Bank Center. Season tickets & sponsorship packages are currently available. Deposits start as low as $50 per seat. For more information, please contact the Rayz at (361)814-PUCK.
