Orange County Flyers News Release

Stellar starting pitching and some timely hitting led the Flyers to a 6-1 victory over the Roadrunners.

Flyers starter Mike Natale (4-4) shut down the Roadrunners attack and the Flyers offense came up with some key hits with runners in scoring positions as they cruised to a 6-1 win over the St. George Roadrunners in the last home game of the season on Sunday afternoon at Goodwin Field in Fullerton.

Natale went 7.2 innings while striking out 11 and only giving up 1 earned run on a 1B Cody Nowlin lead-off solo home run in the 2nd inning, to get the win for the Flyers.

After the Roadrunners got up 1-0 on the Nowlin homer (his 5th of the season), Natale and reliever Trevor Caughey (0-0) combined to shut out the Roadrunners for the final 7 innings.

The Flyers used 2 multi-run innings to get the Flyers more than enough run support for Natale. CF Garry Templeton II hit a RBI triple into the left field corner to get the Flyers on the board in the 2nd and C Alex Entrekin brought Templeton II home with a RBI groundout to get the Flyers the lead 2-1.

Templeton II continued his clutch hitting in the 3rd when he hit a 2-out bases loaded RBI single up the middle that scored 2 runs and then Entrekin struck again with a run-scoring single to make it 5-1 Flyers.

The Flyers added another insurance run in the 7th to make the final score 6-1. Templeton II led the Flyers attack going 3-4 with 3 RBI and a run scored.

Sunday was the final home game of the season for the Flyers as they hit the road for the final 7 games of the season. The win improved their record to 35-34 on the season.
