New Orleans has won four with Nashville winning three, including the most recent meeting in 2013 with a 5-4 win at Greer Stadium.
Familiar Faces: 12 players on the Opening Day roster have played with Nashville in previous seasons. Pitchers include Raul Alcantara, Chris Bassitt, Kyle Finnegan, Frankie Montas, James Naile, Jake Sanchez, Lou Trivino and Bobby Wahl. Position players who have previously donned a Sounds uniform include Franklin Barreto, BJ Boyd, Mark Canha and Beau Taylor.
History Lesson: Nashville and New Orleans have an extensive playing history. Dating back to 1998, the Sounds hold a 171-141 all-time series advantage. The two teams played 16 times in 2017 with Nashville winning 11, including seven of nine in New Orleans.

Fran Takes Over: For the third time in three years, the Sounds will be under the direction of a new manager. Fran Riordan takes over the club in 2018 after spending the 2017 campaign with the Double-A Midland RockHounds. Riordan led the RockHounds to its fourth-straight Texas League Championship. Steve Scarsone managed the Sounds in 2015 and 2016, and Ryan Christenson was Nashville's skipper in 2017. Scarsone is a traveling instructor for the A's and Christenson is Oakland's bench coach.
