Opening Day History: Heading into year number 41, the Sounds are 18-22 all-time on Opening Day. In season openers on the road, the Sounds are 6-15, including a 2-1 loss in Round Rock last year. Nashville is on a three-game losing streak in season openers with its last win coming in Omaha in 2014.

Opening Day vs. New Orleans: Nashville and New Orleans have an extensive history in season-opening games. The two franchises have met seven times on Opening Day since 2007. New Orleans has won four with Nashville winning three, including the most recent meeting in 2013 with a 5-4 win at Greer Stadium.

Familiar Faces: 12 players on the Opening Day roster have played with Nashville in previous seasons. Pitchers include Raul Alcantara, Chris Bassitt, Kyle Finnegan, Frankie Montas, James Naile, Jake Sanchez, Lou Trivino and Bobby Wahl. History Lesson: Nashville and New Orleans have an extensive playing history. Dating back to 1998, the Sounds hold a 171-141 all-time series advantage. The two teams played 16 times in 2017 with Nashville winning 11, including seven of nine in New Orleans.

Talented System: According to Baseball America, the Sounds have seven players among Oakland's top-30 prospects led by #2 prospect Franklin Barreto. Joining him on the list is INF Jorge Mateo (No. 3), OF Dustin Fowler (No. 4), INF Sheldon Neuse (No. 14), RHP Frankie Montas (No. 21), OF BJ Boyd (No. 24) and RHP James Naile (No. 26).

Fran Takes Over: For the third time in three years, the Sounds will be under the direction of a new manager. Fran Riordan takes over the club in 2018 after spending the 2017 campaign with the Double-A Midland RockHounds. Riordan led the RockHounds to its fourth-straight Texas League Championship. Steve Scarsone managed the Sounds in 2015 and 2016, and Ryan Christenson was Nashville's skipper in 2017. Scarsone is a traveling instructor for the A's and Christenson is Oakland's bench coach.
