Nashville SC, Predators Partner to Serve at Preston Taylor Ministries

NASHVILLE - In the midst of a playoff run, Nashville SC started its last week of the regular season giving back to the Nashville community with another of the Music City's professional sports teams. Partnering with the Nashville Predators foundation, Nashville SC spent Monday afternoon playing with soccer and hockey with the children at Preston Taylor Ministries.

The two teams presented a check of $2,753 to Preston Taylor Ministries, raised from "Preds Night" silent auction at the Nashville SC game on August 25th. Both decked out in their respective gold jerseys, Preds players and Nashville SC players were on hand to participate in the after-school activities. Nashville SC defenders Justin Davis and Michael Reed and winger Taylor Washington joined Predators Mattias Ekholm, Roman Josi and Calle Jarnkrok. Even the Preds' mascot "Gnash" was in on the fun.

"Soccer is one part of it, but the community is definitely another side," said Reed. "When you see players off the field, you get to see them really shine. It's fun to see the Preds out here as well, seeing what they're like off the field. It was a lot of fun with the kids and being in this environment."

The players for each team may have had more fun than the children, getting to switch between playing soccer and hockey. For defender Roman Josi, a huge soccer fan himself, it was a treat to get to serve the Nashville community alongside Nashville SC players for an afternoon.

"We have a lot of guys on our team who are huge soccer fans," Josi said. "We are really excited to have a soccer team. It's a ton of fun. I love meeting players from different sports. It's great for the city to have teams cheer each other on. You want the other teams to be successful. The city does it right with all the sports teams here."

Nashville SC will turn its attention to the pitch tomorrow at First Tennessee Park for a critical game where it could clinch a playoff spot. Kickoff against Toronto FC II will be at 7:30 and tickets can be purchased at NashvilleSC.com/tickets.
