WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, are excited to announce that they have hired their new Director of Ticket Sales. Chris Thoburn has accepted the position, as he returns to the Nailers following a brief stint as Director of Ticketing with the Frontier League's Traverse City Beach Bums.

Thoburn, 28, has always had a passion for hockey, and grew up in Eastern Ohio as a diehard fan of the Nailers. While pursuing his degree at West Liberty University, Chris began to make a career out of his passion, as he interned with the Nailers, focusing on Media Relations and Broadcasting. In the summer of 2012, Thoburn left the comfortable confines of the Ohio Valley to learn another area of the business, as he served as a Retention Representative at Oklahoma State University. Chris then returned to Wheeling in the summer of 2014 as an Account Executive with the Nailers, before earning the opportunity to be the Director of Ticketing in Traverse City, which gave him the necessary skills for his current position.

"We are thrilled to welcome Chris back home and back to the organization that he has so much passion for," said Nailers Governor Don Rigby. "Chris has a tremendous personality, which will relate well with our fanbase, in addition to a vast knowledge of our product, which will help us continue to fill WesBanco Arena on a nightly basis. In our eyes, those qualities made him the top candidate for our Director of Ticket Sales."

Thoburn and his ticket staff of Chris Hudgins, Pat Damp, and Rebecca Lewis will be attending the ECHL Annual Meetings this week in Las Vegas, in addition to Vice President of Business Operations Craig Bommer and Radio Broadcaster DJ Abisalih.

The Wheeling Nailers will start the 2015-16 season with a two-game road series against the Norfolk Admirals on October 16th and 17th, before playing their home opener on October 24th against the Brampton Beast at 7:35.
