Mustard, Gruba and Gadzhiev Selected for League Honors

John Mustard (Waterloo), Leo Gruba (Fargo) and Shikhabutdin Gadzhiev (Muskegon) have earned United States Hockey League (USHL) Player of the Week honors for Week 19, the league announced Monday.

NCAA Commitment: Providence

Birth Year: 2006

2 GP, 4 goals, 1 assist, 5 points, +3, 14 shots on goal in helping Waterloo to two wins

Tied for the league lead with four goals and ranked second with five points last week

Including the game-winning goal, scored four times in a 6-2 win over Sioux City last Saturday

Leads all rookie scorers in the USHL with 38 points on 21 goals and 17 assists

Has had 10 multiple-point games this season

Listed at #41 in 2024 NHLCS Mid-Year Rankings

Defenseman of the Week

Leo Gruba | Fargo | Lake Elmo, Minn.

NCAA Commitment: Minnesota

Birth Year: 2003

2 GP, 1 goal, 4 assists, 5 points, 1 PPG, +6 plus-minus rating, 4 shots on goal

Helped lead Fargo to two wins last week

Led all USHL defensemen with five points and four assists last week

Had 1-2- 3 and scored a power-play goal in a 7-2 win at Sioux Falls last Friday

Had two assists (including one on the GWG) in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Stampede

Top-scoring defenseman in the USHL with 16-26- 42, has established Fargo record for points in a season by a defenseman

Third time this year he's been named USHL Defenseman of the Week

Goaltender of the Week

Shikhabutdin Gadzhiev | Muskegon | Makhachkala, Russia

Birth Year: 2004

2 GP, 2-0-0-0, 113:00 minutes, 4 GA, 54 saves, 2.13 goals against average, 0.925 save percentage

Came on in relief and stopped 17 of 17 shots as Muskegon rallied for a 5-3 win at Chicago last Saturday

Had 33 saves in a 7-4 road win at Madison Saturday
