Hoffman Estates, IL: The Chicago Mustangs have announced today they are transferring midfielder Nestor Hernandez to the Dallas Sidekicks for an undisclosed amount. Hernandez, who in his first season as a professional was a dominant presence for the Mustangs high-powered offense, led the team with 50 points. Mustangs Team President Armando Gamboa said about Hernandez's talent, "He is a disciplined player that has a very bright future in this league, or anywhere he would play, and we wish him luck as he continues his soccer journey with the Sidekicks."
The decision to move one of their top players was not easy for the organization, but it made sense when the team found out about the new divisional alignments as well as this seasons schedule. When asked what lead to this move, Gamboa answered, "We have tremendous talent returning in our attacking positions, as well as new found talent that we are excited to introduce this season." He also stated, "Not having Dallas in our division allowed conversations to continue and eventually seeing that we will not face them in the regular season was what solidified our decision."
As the Mustangs continue to prepare for their second season in the Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL - PASLsocccer.com), they are very optimistic their club is moving in the right direction. Gamboa concluded with "When you have top teams looking at the players that you brought into the league, that means you are doing something right. We intend to be a top contender for the Ron Newman Cup this season, and will continue to develop our players into the best possible athletes." The team will kick off their 2013-14 campaign on Saturday, November 2, 2013 when they host the Tulsa Revolution at the Odeum Sports and Event Center in Villa Park, Illinois.
