Sioux City Musketeers News Release

The Sioux City Musketeers stopped a 6 game slide with a 4-1 win on the road in Des Moines. Sioux City came out on fire out shooting the Buccaneers 9 to 2 on the first period and out scoring Des Moines by a score of 2-1. Sam Stange was the first to strike at the 7:54 mark of the first period. Gabe Blanchard made it 2-0 on his first goal of the season, as he ripped a shot from the point set up nicely from Christian Jimenez at the 18:38 mark in the first period to take the lead to the locker rooms. Sioux City Captain Ian Malcolmson made it 3-0 after outmanuvering the goalie for the Bucs and scoring his 5th goal on the year just 33 seconds into the 2nd period. That would give the Musketeers a 3-0 advantage on the scoreboard going into the final period.

Des Moines finally got on the board at the 7:12 mark in the third on a power play.

Sam Antenucci finished the scoring with a power play goal at the 14:14 mark of the final period. Aidan Harper was terrific in net stopping 21 of 22 shot attempts for the win.

The two teams then went into a second matchup on Saturday where the final score was in favor of the home team. The Des Moines Buccaneers took a 6-2 victory as Des Moines started off the scoring just 3:53 into the game before Ian Malcolmson got his 6th goal of the year at the 17:33 mark to tie it up after the first period of play. Des Moines would take control from there scoring 2 powerplay goals by Yaroslav Alexeyev and another as Matt Choupani as Matt would complete the hat trick after the goal in the first, a power play goal at the 12:45 mark and the goal at the 17:36 mark in the second period. Sioux City tried to claw back in the third period as Sam Stange put his 11th goal of the season in the back of the net, but the Buccaneers offense would not be denied as they scored two more goals at the 6:29 and 7:15 mark to end the game at a score of 6-2.

The Musketeers return home before the holiday break with a triple-header weekend at the Tyson Events Center on Thursday, December 12th at 7:05 P.M as they take on the Fargo Force for the first time this year and battle the Force again on Friday, December 13th at 7:05 P.M. before scouts, Star Wars, and Teddy Bear toss night to close out the weekend against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders on Saturday, December 14th at 7:05 P.M.
