PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (June 26, 2015) - Daniel Murphy, Dominic Smith and Jeff McNeil each went 4 for 5 as the St. Lucie Mets clobbered the Bradenton Marauders 9-3 on Friday at Tradition Field.

Murphy, the New York Mets infielder rehabbing from a left quad strain, had four hits in his final four at-bats after popping out in the first inning. He laced three singles, one double, scored twice and drove in two runs. Murphy played eight innings at third base.

Smith set a career-high with four hits. He hit two more doubles and drove in three runs. His 24 doubles lead the league.

McNeil also had four hits - three singles and a double - and scored four runs. It was his third four-hit game of the season.

McNeil, Murphy and Smith batted 2-3-4 in the lineup. They combined to go 12 for 15 with four doubles, five RBIs and seven runs scored.

Not to be forgotten was starting pitcher Logan Taylor, who made one of his best starts of the season. He limited the Marauders to one run in seven innings. He did not walk a batter and struck out three in earning his second victory.

The Mets improved to 1-1 in the FSL's second half.

The Mets got off to a fortunate start when Victor Cruzado hit a wild inside the park three-run home run in the second inning off of Frank Duncan. With two on, Cruzado sliced a pitch to shallow left field that landed fair and tricked into the Mets bullpen. Left fielder Barrett Barnes couldn't dig it out and threw his hands up asking for a dead ball. Field umpire Ben Levin didn't give Barnes the benefit of the doubt and Cruzado ran all the way home.

The Mets made it 5-0 in the third on back-to-back RBI doubles by Murphy and Smith.

An RBI double by Smith and an RBI infield single by Amed Rosario made it 7-1 in the fifth.

Murphy added an RBI single in the sixth and Smith completed the scoring by driving in McNeil with a single in the eighth.

The Mets outhit the Marauders 16-9.

Duncan took the loss. He allowed 10 hits and seven run in five innings. The Mets have 37 hits off of Duncan in his four starts against them this season.

The Mets (36-36, 1-1) begin at four-game road trip at the Tampa Yankees on Saturday at 6 p.m. Savannah Sand Gnats first-half All Star Casey Meisner is expected to make his St. Lucie debut. The game can be heard on www.stluciemets.com.
