Mississippi Braves News Release
GREENVILLE, SC -- The Carolina Mudcats showed why they are the Southern League's team batting leaders as they pounded out 15 hits en-route to a 10-2 victory over the Greenville Braves Saturday night at Greenville Municipal Stadium. Carolina starter Donnie Bridges (7-1) went seven innings and allowed only two runs on three hits to get the win.
For the third straight night, the Mudcats scored a run in the first inning. Billy Hall led off with a bunt single off of G-Braves starter Matt Belisle (5-8), and he came around to score on a Josh Wilson single to right.
The teams traded runs in the second frame on a pair of two-out doubles as Carolina got theirs from Bridges that plated Jesus Medrano. The G-Braves made it 2-1 with a Cory Aldridge two-bagger.
The Mudcats erupted for four runs on five hits in the third inning highlighted by back-to-back RBI doubles from Chip Ambres and Medrano.
After Belisle had allowed two more runs in the fourth, reliever Ray Aguilar inherited a no-out bases loaded situation. Aguilar induced three straight pop-ups to end the threat, and went on to give up only five hits over five innings.
For the third straight game, the G-Braves did not have a player with more than one hit.
